Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson condemns attack in Pakistan

A spokesperson for the Federal Foreign Office issued the following statement today (8 August) following the attack on mourners outside a clinic in Quetta, Pakistan:

A group of mourners in the Pakistani city of Quetta were the victims of an act of terrorism of the most brutal kind. We condemn this criminal and heinous attack, which claimed the lives of well over 50 people, in the strongest possible terms.

We offer the families of the victims and all the people of Pakistan our heartfelt sympathy, and wish those who have been injured a speedy recovery.

We stand alongside Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. Most importantly, we must continue to do everything we can to prevent terrorism from taking root and planting its ideological seeds in the minds of young people.
